You can delete cloud data or delete your cloud account in the app. Note: deleting your cloud account removes cloud data and the account but, by default, keeps the local archive on this device, so you can keep writing offline. To erase records on one device, use "Delete the archive on this device"; "Delete all data" removes the cloud copy, the account, and local data together.
With cloud sync on, your records are stored end-to-end encrypted: support and backend staff cannot view your plaintext entries. With cloud sync off, records exist only on your device—we never touch that data. AI observations are the only exception: when you explicitly request one, the relevant content is processed online in plaintext, and it is never used for ads or profiling.
Your recovery phrase is required to restore encryption keys after device loss, reset, or migration. If both your devices and recovery phrase are lost, encrypted history may become unrecoverable. Store the phrase in a trusted offline place. Avoid screenshots or sharing it in messaging apps.
On a new device, you need key recovery or device authorization before encrypted history can be decrypted. A typical flow is: write locally -> upload encrypted data when online -> other authorized devices download and decrypt. If content does not appear immediately, check connection status and refresh after sync completes.
Yipa core capabilities—writing, review, search, statistics, I Ching, readable export, and manual full backup & restore—work fully offline and without an account. You can finish onboarding and write your first entry in airplane mode. Server outages or expired subscriptions never lock your existing records.
Yipa is local-first: entries are saved on this device only by default and never uploaded. When you turn on Yipa Cloud sync, synced content is end-to-end encrypted (E2EE)—data is encrypted before it leaves your device; we store only ciphertext and cannot read your plaintext. AI observations are the exception: when you explicitly request AI (or turn on auto-observation), the relevant entry text is sent to us in plaintext for online processing; cloud sync being on or off does not affect that choice.
